Strikes between Israel and Hezbollah escalated with the issuance of an evacuation notice for Beirut


Strikes between Israel and Hezbollah escalated on Wednesday night, with the Israeli military issuing an urgent evacuation notice for parts of southern Lebanon, including Beirut.

The two sides have continued to exchange fire since Israel last week began carrying out intense attacks targeting Hezbollah, Iran’s proxy force in Lebanon, following its strikes on Iran.

On Wednesday, Hezbollah announced a new operation against its neighbor, launching dozens of missiles.

Israel responded with intense bombing of the suburb of Beirut.

The Israeli army announced on Wednesday that it had begun a “large-scale wave of strikes on Hezbollah’s infrastructure” after issuing an “urgent and serious” warning to evacuate the area.

In an update late Wednesday, the Israeli military said it struck 10 Hezbollah facilities in the suburb within 30 minutes, including an intelligence headquarters and command centers.
