Jeffries: DOJ release of Epstein files ‘inadequate’ and ‘falls short of what the law requires’
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., on Sunday criticized the partial release of files related to the abuse of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after the Justice Department released a set of redacted files on Friday.
“Congress acted decisively, with bipartisan majorities in both the House and Senate, and the President signed the bill into law, which It appears, of course, that this initial version of the document is inadequate. “It doesn’t do what the law requires,” Jeffries told ABC News’ “This Week” host Jonathan Karl.
Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., said he and Rep. Thomas Massie – his Republican partner in the effort to pass the Epstein Files Transparency Act – – They are considering filing articles of impeachment against Attorney General Pam Bondi for apparent non-compliance with the law.
When asked if that was on the table, Jeffries did not answer directly.
“Well, I think there has to be a full and complete explanation and then a full and complete explanation “Investigating why the production of the document failed to meet what the law clearly requires,” Jeffries said. “So the next step in the process will be that written justification to try to explain it to Congress, to the survivors, and most importantly, to the American people.
