Jerry Jones says the Cowboys’ mystery trade isn’t complete yet

NFL Midseason Superlatives: The biggest busts so far
Joe Rivera and Chris Bumbaca of USA TODAY Sports explain that the players, coaches and teams have been the biggest disappointment so far.
Jerry Jones is ready to deal at the NFL trade deadline. Unless it isn’t.
As the trade deadline approached at 4pm ET on Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys owner continued his habit of engaging in doublespeak regarding his team’s personnel plans. This time, Jones undermined his claim earlier in the day that he had reached agreement on a deal with another organization.
“We can see something we have to do, though, tonight,” Jones told reporters after the 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cowboys. Cowboys To 3-5-1 on the season. “And the answer to your question: There is no trade at the moment… but there is a trade I can do. Without a doubt, there is a trade I can do, and I am inclined to do it.”
Jones disputed the suggestion that the result of Monday night’s game changed his outlook in any way.
“Everyone knows it’s up to tomorrow,” Jones said. “You can’t make a trade if you haven’t done it, okay? So we’ll see what happens tomorrow… I said we’ll make a trade that will be done tomorrow. That’s what I said.”
As for any uncertainty, Jones was willing to acknowledge it, however, as he made it clear that he had no intention of his team going into sell mode after defeat.
“I like our nuts and bolts a lot,” Jones said.
Jones caused a stir earlier in the day by announcing that an agreement had been reached.
“There’s a lot of action going on right now in terms of trading,” Jones said on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” on SiriusXM Radio. “We’ve definitely done a trade, and we may do a couple more before the deadline. We’ve done one trade. Maybe we can do a couple more, I’ll wait and let you read about that when we send the papers tomorrow.”
