A little magic can go a long way. Just ask Bill and Ariel.

When Disney Princesses Belle and Ariel came into a little girl’s hospital room, it wasn’t just her face that lit up, but the entire room. Millions on the Internet quickly followed suit.

“The look on her face as we walked through those magical portals is something I will never forget,” said Alyssa Banks, founder of The Princess Program Foundation. “Seeing her eyes light up, surrounded by the wonders she had always dreamed of, reminded me that these experiences are truly life-changing — not just for children, but for everyone involved.”

Alyssa Banks wanted to bring a sense of magic and joy to children at the hospital, so she created the Princess Program Foundation. This non-profit organization brings kids’ favorite heroes and princesses to life and surprises them when they need it most. Recently, one of those special moments went viral after a little girl met her favorite fictional characters.

“One day, while working with a child, I heard the words that changed everything: ‘I will never be able to go to Disney.’ “At that moment, I knew I wanted to change that story — not by taking them to Disney, but by bringing the magic of Disney to them,” Banks explained.

The faces behind the magic? Volunteers offer their acting skills to build a distinctive interaction. Each visit is tailored to what each child loves best, so that each child feels special, seen and celebrated. They spend time doing crafts, reading stories, bringing special dresses – and most importantly, sharing smiles and laughter.

“It’s the moments of true connection that make every visit memorable,” Banks said.

The foundation began in Boston, but has since grown internationally, bringing this unique sense of wonder to children all over the world.
