Iran live updates: US Central Command commander says US blockade ‘fully implemented’
After being unable to reach an agreement with Iran, Vice President J.D. Vance said Tuesday that there is a lot of mistrust between the United States and Tehran that cannot be resolved “overnight,” but he feels good about the current situation.
“We’ve never had a meeting like this before, where you have, you know, the person who’s actually running the country in Iran sitting across from the vice president of the United States, and that’s never happened,” Vance said during a Turning Point USA university event in Athens, Georgia.

Vance continued: “After 49 years, there is of course a great deal of mistrust between Iran and the United States of America. This problem will not be solved overnight. But yes, I think the people we are sitting across from wanted to make an agreement, and I know the president of the United States asked us to go there and negotiate in good faith. And that’s what we did. And that’s what we will continue to do.”
Vance says he feels “good about where we are.”
